Supplies

Supplies notes:

  • Cardstock –  Using cardstock is a must! It’s thicker than regular paper, making the cards more durable for handing out at school or attaching to small gifts. I like Astrobrights 110lb cardstock, which I can find at my local office supplies store.
  • Color Printer – A color printer brings these cheerful designs to life! If you don’t have a printer at home, you can send the files to your local print shop. There are full color and low-color options provided in the PDF, so be sure to have them print only the version you want!
  • Scissors or Paper Cutter – Scissors are great for kids to help cut out their own cards, but a paper cutter ensures perfectly straight edges if you’re prepping them yourself.

If you’re turning the Valentine’s Day cards into tags for treat bags, a hole punch and ribbon or string can add a festive touch.

Print out the free printable on a color printer. Choose “actual size” to have the printable fill your entire sheet of paper. I recommend printing the Valentine’s cards on heavy duty cardstock so they hold up in treat bags. There are 12 different Valentine’s day cards in the PDF file, but there are two versions – one is full color and other is low color, so print whatever version you prefer to save paper and printer ink!

Expert Tips

  • A paper cutter is a game-changer for cutting multiple cards quickly and getting perfectly straight lines.
  • Encourage kids to jazz up the cards with stickers, glitter, or even washi tape. It’s a simple way to make each card unique and extra special.
  • For a fun touch, match the treat to the pun! For example pair “You’re one in a MELON!” with watermelon-flavored candy.
  • If you’re printing a large batch, consider taking the file to a local copy shop. Bulk printing can save on ink costs and guarantee high-quality results.

FAQs

What size paper should I use for printing?

The sign is designed to fit perfectly on standard 8.5″ x 11″ letter-sized paper. I recommend using cardstock so the cards are a bit thicker and don’t bend as easily in treat boxes.

How many cards are included in the printable?

The printable includes 12 different pun-themed designs, so there’s plenty of variety for your Valentine’s exchanges! There is a full color version of all designs, as well as a low-color option for those who don’t want to use as much printer ink!

What size are the cards?

Each card is approximately 3×4 inches once cut out. They’re the perfect size for classroom Valentine exchanges or attaching to small gifts.

How can I make the cards into gift tags?

Simply use a hole punch at the top of the card, then thread ribbon or twine through the hole to attach it to treat bags or gifts.

What treats pair well with these cards?

These cards go great with small candies, mini bags of chips, or even homemade baked goods.
