These gingerbread cookies are sure to bring you holiday cheer! Decorated with royal icing, these adorable gingerbread men and Christmas tree cookies are so festive! They're sweet, spicy, and so delicious.  Plus, they make great gifts for friends and family!

Let's make gingerbread cookies together! Gather your ingredients.

Add the dry ingredients to a large mixing bowl. Whisk to combine and set aside.

Add the brown sugar and softened butter to a separate mixing bowl.

Cream together for 2-3 minutes, until light and fluffy.

Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla to the mixture.

Mix together until combined and relatively smooth.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients.

Mix until no more streaks of flour remain. Do not overmix.

Turn the dough out onto a piece of parchment paper. Pat into a disk and chill for 3 hours.

Roll the cookie dough out onto a piece of parchment paper dusted with powdered sugar.

Cut out your desired shapes with cookie cutters.

Place the cookie dough cut outs onto a lined baking sheet.

Bake until the cookies are firm on the edges and no longer shiny in the center.

Let the cookies cool completely before frosting.

Decorate with royal icing or your favorite frosting and decorations.
